Hunter S. Thompson

I have chosen to do my American author project on Hunter S. Thompson. I have read on of his books, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and saw the movie. I really liked both the book and the movie. His style of writing really draws me in which is one of the main reasons that I chose him. His writing style involves him and his life stories and or view with a little writer’s spice to make the stories more captivating. I like this style because I think its crazy to hear about something that actually happened to someone or an event that actually happened.
Hunter S. Thompson was born in America so that makes him an American, which is one of the requirements for this project. He has had many novels and collections of his journalism work, so there will be plenty from me to choose. Thompson is crated with being the creator of Gonzo journalism. I think this has made a very big contribution to American society and writing. Thompson has been widely known for fear and loathing in Las Vegas, which was turned into a very successful movie. These are some reasons why I think Thompson is an important charter to American writing.
I fell that Thompson brings up very contradictable issues in his writing, a lot revolving around politics. A possible idea is to consider reading one of his crazy adventure stories and comparing it to his column writing and his opinion books and how they relate and how they’re different. I still have to do more research on him and his writing and what all his books are about but that is my main plan. Also I know that he traveled a lot in Central and South America and I could see how that is shown in his writing.
I plan on reading Hell’s Angles, Hey Rube, and songs of the doomed. Songs of the doomed is a collection of his journalism work.
